Marian A. Pekala, 68, of Fern Glen, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, at her sister's residence in Fern Glen, following a year-long illness.
Born in Fern Glen, August 15, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Lucille (Yaccino) Pekala and had spent her entire life in Fern Glen.
Marian was a 1976 graduate of Penn State University. She was employed as a Behavioral Health Technician for Northeast Counseling, Nanticoke; and worked with children inside the classroom at Heights Terrace Elementary School, Hazleton. She was a very active member of Saint John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf, where she also taught CCD classes. Marian loved her church, and especially enjoyed helping to decorate for different holidays. She was also fond of cooking for her friends and family.
Surviving are her sister, Monica Link, Fern Glen; nephew, Paul Link, Kennett Square; and four dogs, who she lovingly referred to as her fur-babies.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 10 AM in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 PA-93, Sugarloaf, PA 18249. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart RC Cemetery, Weston. Friends may call at the church on Saturday morning from 9 AM until the time of the Mass.
