Magdalene Z. (Zablocki) Welsh

Magdalene Z. Welsh, 89, of Nuremberg, passed away Tuesday morning, August 6, 2024, at Mountain City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hazle Township, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Burgettstown, PA, July 22, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Kazimir and Anna (Przybalowska) Zablocki and spent the past 30 years in Nuremberg, after moving from Pittsburgh.

Magdalene graduated from Pitt University with a degree in Psychology.  She was employed by the FBI in Washington, as an espionage stenographer, and worked at Pitt as an administrative assistant for the chancellor.  She assisted in starting an opera company with the assistance of the Met to bring the arts to Pitt.  When her daughter was younger, they enjoyed participating in the Girl Scouts together.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Weston.  Magdalene enjoyed watching horror movies and listening to Polish music and Polka's.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, Edwin Welsh, who passed away December 3, 2012; six sisters, Helen and Eve Zablocki, Anna Urenzik, Cassy Shuble, Theresa McCall, and Mary Cowden, and two brothers, Michael and Alexander Zablocki.

Surviving are her daughter, Susan Welsh, Nuremberg; and two grandchildren, Katherine and Connor Dodson, both of Philadelphia.

Her funeral will be held with a private Memorial Service at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen.
