Magdalene M. (Lupcho) Sabol

Magdalene M. Sabol, 98, of Drums, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 3, 2026, at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community in Drums, where she had been a guest for the past seven years.

Born in Fern Glen, January 10, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Elizabeth (Medvitz) (Gonda) Lupcho and had spent 72 years in Hazleton, prior to moving to Drums.

Magdalene was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker to her family. She was a previous member of Saints Cyril & Methodius Parish at the Church of St. Joseph, Hazleton. Magdalene was a remarkable knitter, crocheter and quilter, who could make an Afghan in record time. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, cleaning, and taking care of her home and family. 

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her devoted husband, George R. Sabol, Sr, who passed away December 13, 2014; brothers, Steve, Michael and Joe Lupcho, and Andrew Gonda; sisters, Veronica Rossi, Irene Lupcho, Anna and Mary Martini, Elizabeth "Betty" Zanolini, Dorothy Pekala and Hazel Bertoldi; and a step-sister, Rose Handelong.

Surviving are three children, George "Butch" R. Sabol, Jr. and wife Cindy, Drums; Rose Stish, Drums; and Debbie Glenn and husband John, Ocean Twp, NJ; four grandchildren, Crystal Lee Wummer and husband Jesse, Stroudsburg; John R. Stish and wife Rachel, Chicago, IL; John Glenn, Ocean Twp, NJ; and Chelsea Arensdorf and husband Matt, Ocean Twp, NJ; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W Butler Dr, Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
