Mae Sylvia, 104, of Lexington Park, passed away Monday afternoon, May 1, 2023, at her daughter's residence in Lexington Park, MD following a lengthy illness.
Born in Glen Lyon, PA, June 28, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Julia (Hudak) Selecky and spent the past 10 years in Lexington Park, MD; after moving from Berwick, PA.
Mae was employed as a seamstress for Amalgamated Clothing Factory, Shickshinny. She was a member of Ss. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Berwick; the ILGWU and the Big Band Society. Mae was a fantastic gardener, growing both flowers and vegetables. She would also help others landscape and work on their gardens. Mae was one of the oldest living people in Saint Mary's County, MD.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband Paul Charnitski, second husband Duarte Sylvia, brother Harold Selecky, and great-granddaughter Mckenna Kable.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Kable, Lexington Park, MD; two grandsons, Christopher Lee Kable and his loving partner, Beatrice McCabe, Deltona, FL; and Barney Kable and wife Kristl, Manassas, VA; and great-grandson, Christopher Paul Kable, Deltona, FL.
Her funeral will be held at a date and time to be announced. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
