Louis Joseph "Joe" Huber, 80, of Sugarloaf, passed away Thursday morning, January 20, 2022 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton, following a short illness.
Born in Altoona, January 22, 1941, he was the son of the late Louis and Anecita (Kibler) Huber and spent the past 45 years in Sugarloaf. Although not originally from the area, Joe quickly fell in love with Sugarloaf and considered it his home.
Joe was a retired Supervisor for Federal Business Products, Valmont Industrial Park. After retiring, he filled his days with things that he truly enjoyed. He was a NASCAR pit crew member for Dave Marcus; something that gave him great pride. A US Army Veteran during the Vietnam War, he was a member of Valley Vets, VFW Post #8161, Conyngham and proudly served as a member of the post's honor guard. He greatly appreciated the friendships formed there by participating in their various events and his often daily visits to share a drink with friends. He enjoyed being outside and felt great satisfaction after of day of being on a tractor. Joe was a motorcycle enthusiast. After realizing his goals to bike to Daytona, Sturgis and many other places, in his later years, Joe could often be seen riding around the valley on his Honda Gold Wing. Above all, Joe loved his family and was grateful for the time that he spent with them.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a sister Barbara Keller.
Surviving are a brother William Huber and his wife Patricia, Montoursville; a sister Mary Lander and her husband William, Elizabethtown, brother in law; Raymond Keller, Altoona, nieces and nephews Kimberly Huff, Sugarloaf; Joseph Keller and his wife Joni; William Keller; Jennifer Bassett and her husband Nat; Scott Huber and his fiance' Sherri Kimble; Pam Taylor and her husband Dave; Michelle Cain and her husband Brad; and Mary Beth Morris and her husband Chip. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 10 am in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf. Interment will follow in Red Rock Cemetery, Sugarloaf. Memorial donations may be made to a veteran's charitable organization of your choice.
