Linda Souchak of Drums passed away Thursday morning, February 3, 2022, at the Veterans Hospital in Wilkes Barre.
Born in Shenandoah, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence Yanonis.
She was a graduate of J.W. Cooper High School in Shenandoah.
Linda was very proud of the fact she was an U.S. Army veteran and worked at Walter Reed Hospital. She was a member of the Conyngham VFW Post 8161 and served as a volunteer at the VA hospital in Wilkes Barre. Additionally, Linda was an avid animal lover and volunteered in various activities to improve their quality of life. She was a member of PETA for 23 years.
Preceding her death were three sisters Beatrice Vozar, Carol Seymour, and Dorothy Metkus.
She is survived by her loving husband Paul J. Souchak to whom she was married on September 12, 1998; two stepdaughters Marci Generose, Philadelphia; and Ann Souchak and her companion Paul Young, of Edwardsville; one grandson Dakota Souchak, Edwardsville; a sister Helene Medvetz and husband James of Sheppton; a brother William J. Yanonis and wife Novelyn, CA; three nephews Jarrad Yanonis, Chris Medvetz and family, and James Medvetz Jr.
Her funeral will be held with a Memorial Service on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 7PM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5PM until the time of the service. Interment will take place privately in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in her honor be made to any animal rescue center of the donor's choosing.
