Karen A. (Klesh) Shewack

Karen A. Shewack, 75, of West Hazleton, passed away Sunday morning, July 20, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her adoring family.

Born in Hazleton, March 11, 1950, she was the daughter of the late George S. "Jute" and Doris (Chyko) Klesh and spent the past 47 years at her home in West Hazleton.

Karen graduated from Hazleton High School, class of 1968. She then graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in 1971. Karen was employed as an Intake Nurse for Maternal and Family Health Services WIC Center, Hazleton. She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Hazleton. Karen found the joy in everything and the best in everyone. She was always up for a new adventure with her children and grandchildren, always planning a new weekly adventure whether it involved rollercoasters, theme parks or a new exciting place to explore. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, photography, drawing, painting, and spending quality time making memories with her friends and family.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her infant sister, Mary Elizabeth Klesh.

Surviving are her loving husband, Robert John Shewack, Sr. to whom she was married on August 28, 1971; four children, Kimberly Babbish and husband Jim, Hazle Twp.; Robert "Bob" Shewack, Jr. and husband, Jeff Fox, Sharon, MA; Sarah Bride and husband Dustin, Panama City Beach, FL; and Rachel Dvorak and husband Jared, Panama City Beach, FL; five grandchildren, James, Bobby and Michael Babbish; and Addison and Tanner Bride; a sister, Jane Butkovsky and husband Martin, Hazleton; and several nieces and nephews including, Shane, Adam, Jenna, and Evan. Special thanks for all the love, compassion, and care provided by Debbie, Maggie, and Leon, and thanks for all the love from Jane, Jim, Geri, Rose Marie, and Lehigh Valley Hospice Care.

The funeral will be held Friday, July 25, 2025 at 10 AM with Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, 227 E. Beech St, Hazleton, PA 18201. Burial will follow in Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive on Thursday evening, July 24, 2025, from 6 PM to 8 PM.
