Joyce V. Brutosky, 90, of Sugarloaf, passed away September 17, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Warrior Run, July 22, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Petrovich) Kraska and was raised and spent most of her life in Sugarloaf.
Joyce was a kitchen aide for Keystone Job Corps Center, Drums and she was also a local AVON lady for many years. She was an original member of Saint John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf and was active with their annual festival. She helped to start the Joe LaRock Recreation Committee and organized horse shows at LaRock Grove to raise money for Joe LaRock Recreation Field. Joyce also organized many festivals at the recreation field. She loved taking trips to casinos, having visited Atlantic City and Las Vegas many times.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, Thomas Brutosky, who passed away April 7, 1984; a son, Joseph Brutosky, who passed away Jun 11, 2022; and two sisters, Patricia Kraska, and Josephine Good.
Surviving are four children, Elizabeth J. Brutosky, RN; Denise Sterenchock and her husband Thomas; Jacqueline Podlaski and her husband Frank, all of Sugarloaf; and Jeffery A. Brutosky, Oneida; daughter-in-law Donna Brutosky, Sugarloaf; four grandchildren, Melissa Moran, David Ferko, Alex Sterenchock, and Megan Sterenchock; and four great grandchildren, Jake Moran, Lillian Moran, and Henry and Jack Sterenchock and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 20, 2024 at 10 AM in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 PA-93, Sugarloaf. Burial will follow in Calvary RC Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 AM until the time of the Mass.
