Joseph Halcisak Obituary

Joseph J. Halcisak Jr., 82, of West Hazleton passed away on December 1, 2025, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Born in Hazleton, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Constance (Savitsky) Halcisak and spent the past 51 years in West Hazleton after moving from Hazle Twp. Joe was a devoted family man who cherished his loving wife of 58 years, Rosalie, and was a dedicated father to his four sons, Christopher, Jeffrey, Joseph, and Thomas. His family was the center of his life, and he took immense pride in the home and legacy he built with Rosalie.

Joe worked as a Supervisor at PPL, retiring after 35 years of dedicated service. A Navy veteran, he proudly served his country and was a member of Good Shepherd R.C. Church in Drums and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a barber shop singer and deeply involved in his community, dedicating over 50 years to coaching various youth sports. He served as a Cub Master of Pack 22 in West Hazleton, a Babe Ruth baseball coach for more than 20 years, and coached Midget Football for both West Hazleton and Beaver Banks. Joe also coached Little League and Biddy Basketball in West Hazleton.

In his free time, Joe loved playing golf and woodworking. He was also always ready to lend his time and talents to the young people of West Hazleton.

He was preceded in death by his brother Stanley Halcisak and sisters Lucille Matweecha and Dorothy Holling.

Surviving are his loving wife, Rosalie (Matushoneck) Halcisak; his four sons, Christopher Halcisak and his fiancée Cindy Zabretsky, Freeland; Jeffrey Halcisak and his wife Wendy, Sugarloaf; Joseph Halcisak and his wife Karen, Hazle Twp.; and Thomas Halcisak and his wife Jennifer, Emmaus; his sister Patricia Marion of Fort Lauderdale, FL; nine grandchildren-Rebecca and Dylan Halcisak, Joseph and Joshua Halcisak, Alexis Watkins, Thomas and Leah Halcisak, Jamie Judge, and Deana Chupela, and six great-grandchildren: Myla Coombs, Charlotte Watkins, Nevaeh and Everly Chupela, Kelcie, and Blake Judge. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 10 AM in Good Shepherd R.C. Church, Drums with burial taking place privately. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 AM until the time of the Mass.
