Joseph Connor Obituary

After more than 25 years of fighting various cancers, Joseph M. Connor, 81, of Conyngham, succumbed to the disease on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton.

Joe was born February 22, 1944, to Joseph and Agnes (Canavan) Connor. He graduated from Cardinal Brennan High School in 1962. He furthered his education by attending McCann School of Business and graduated with a degree in accounting. Joe served in the PA National Guard-Active Duty. He went on to work for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, starting with the State Police Comptroller's Office. He held various positions, including working in the DPW Comptroller's Office where his work was very beneficial in saving the Commonwealth over a million dollars.

Joe worked for the Commonwealth for 37 years and retired in 2003. Working for the Commonwealth provided Joe with more than just professional fulfillment, it was at an office in Harrisburg where he met Beatrice Rovito and on November 16, 1974, he married the love of his life. They had a daughter, Nicole, and settled in Conyngham, where they've spent the past 46 years.

Joe was a sports enthusiast and loved football, sharing his love for Notre Dame and the Philadelphia Eagles with his daughter. They spent countless hours watching games together and discussing plays. He was in his glory when he'd go to South Bend for a game - Go Irish! He enjoyed golf and played with the twilight league at Mt. Valley golf course.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; his daughter, Nicole; son-in-law, Dustin Kociolek; granddaughters, Alexandria and Sydney Kociolek; sister, Anne Slaton; sister-in-law, Rita Rovito; a niece and a nephew, and many cousins.

His funeral will be celebrated with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 10 AM in Saint John Bosco RC Church, 573 PA-93, Sugarloaf, PA 18249.
