John R. Koch, 79, of Drums, passed away Tuesday evening, February 22, 2022, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest in Allentown, following a sudden illness.
Born in Hazleton, March 17, 1942, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Muriel (Jones) Koch and spent the past 37 years in Drums, after moving from Bethlehem.
John was a Supervisor for US Air at both the Hazleton and Allentown Airports and retired after 33 years. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War having served from 1964 - 1966 where he attained the rank of SP4. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. Johns.
John was an Eagle Scout in his younger years and enjoyed a round of golf, and winning at Gin Rummy. John was a wonderful and fun loving person and an exceptional husband, father and Pop-Pop.
Surviving are his loving wife, the former Judith Anderson to whom he was married on June 18, 1966 in Drums; a son Brad Koch, Drums; two grandsons Hunter and Wyatt Koch, Drums; two brothers James Koch, FL; and Kenneth Koch and his wife Dorrie, Andreas; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 11 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran and UCC Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10 am until the time of the service.
