John A. Kalinovich, 84, of Drums, passed away Monday morning, March 21, 2022 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes Barre, following a short illness.
Born in Freeland, February 27, 1938, he was the son of the late Andrew and Agnes (Yurashek) Kalinovich and spent the past 56 years in Drums, after moving from New Village, NJ.
At the time of his retirement, John was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Silberline Manufacturing, Tamaqua, PA. He was a US Marine Corps veteran having served from 1956 - 1959. He then graduated from Penn State University with a BS in Finance. He was a member of Good Shepherd RC Church, Drums and a former long time member of the Drums Lions Club. He was also a past President of the Drums PTA, and a former member of the Hazleton Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed traveling, winemaking, boating and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Kalinovich, Jr, who passed away April 25, 1972; and a son-in-law Frederick Pfeil, Jr, February 27, 2014.
Surviving are his wife, of the past 59 years, the former Louise Pavloski; three children Anna Pfeil, and her companion Timothy Lutzko, Drums; James Kalinovich and his wife Lori, New Hope; and Mary Jo Black and her husband Jeffrey, Allegany, NY; nine grandchildren Tiffany Fisher and her husband Joseph; John Pfeil and his wife Amanda; Nicole Pfeil and her companion John Stancu; Elise, Andrew, and Victoria Kalinovich; Alexandra, Elizabeth, and Michael Black; and one great-grandchild on the way.
His funeral will be held Friday, March 25, 2022 at 9:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Good Shepherd RC Church, 87 S. Hunter Highway, Drums. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening 6-8 pm at which time a Christian Wake Service will be held.
