Jocelyn R. (DeCosmo) Kostanesky

Jocelyn R. Kostanesky, 47, of Beaver Meadows, passed away Friday morning, October 10, 2025, at Temple University Hospital - Jeanes Campus in Philadelphia, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Hazleton, October 22, 1977, she was the daughter of James Michael DeCosmo, Sr., Hazle Twp; and Deborah Lynn (Hawk) Rusk and her husband Laurel August, III., Myrtle Beach, SC; and spent the past 16 years in Beaver Meadows, after moving from Ebervale.

Jocelyn was a graduate of Hazleton Area High School, class of 1996. Her first job was at Carmen's Country Inn in Butler Twp. She then worked as a CNA at Mt. City Nursing Home in Hazle Twp. for over 20 years. Jocelyn received her associate's degree in medical assisting from McCann School of Business, Hazle Twp. in 2018.

Jocelyn loved to drive and was always down for a road trip, singing her favorite songs as she went along. She liked listening to rock music, going to concerts, watching TV, going to the movies and taking care of her animals.

She was preceded in death, by her loving husband John J. Kostanesky, who passed away May 1, 2016.

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a daughter, Harley Ann Kostanesky, Beaver Meadows, and her companion Timothy James Petterson, Jr., Milton, NY; a son, Shawn Albert Kostanesky, Beaver Meadows; a brother, Jimmy Michael DeCosmo and wife Amber Lynn, Bellefonte; a sister, Ashley Lynn Webb, Nescopeck; a nephew, Malcolm Arthur DeCosmo, Bellefonte; two nieces, Skylee Lynn and Shyanne Lee Webb, both of Nescopeck; mother-in-law, Karen Ann Gruber and husband James, Freeland; and several cousins, and other extended family.

Her funeral will be held with a Memorial Service on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 12 PM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Dr, Drums. Interment will follow in Calvary RC Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10 AM until the time of the service.
