Joan Lorraine Yelito, 93, formerly of Sugarloaf, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2026, surrounded by her loving daughters at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community in Drums, where she had been a guest for the past two and a half years.
Born in West Hazleton, February 1, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Matuszkiewicz) Dubrawsky and had lived in Sugarloaf for 45 years prior to moving to Drums.
Joan was a graduate of West Hazleton High School class of 1950. She then graduated from McCann School of Business in Hazleton. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for many years. She was a faithful member of St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf. She was also a member of Transfiguration Solidarity, Polonaise Society, Hazleton Elks Lodge #200, and the Valley Vets. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, taking care of her garden, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling with her husband, and polka dancing.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, Edward J. Yelito; five brothers, Albert, Edward, Donald, Mitch, and Emil Dubrawsky; a sister, Helen Strenk and her first husband, Albert Mercantino.
Surviving are two daughters, Janet Stish and husband Edward, West Hazleton; and Gina Corazza and husband Peter Darrell, Sugarloaf; four grandchildren, Eddie Stish and wife Emily, Sugarloaf; Jessica Ferraro and husband Ryan, Hoboken, NJ; Ian Corazza, Sugarloaf; and Jade Corazza and her fiancée Spencer Edelman, Glenside; five great-grandchildren, Benjamin Albert, Noah Edward, Vivienne Joan, Millie Carmen, and Maxwell Albert; two sisters, Shirley Manna, Tresckow; and Dolores Roskos, Holland; and many nieces, nephews; great-nieces and nephews and many good friends.
Her funeral will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 11 AM in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 PA-93, Sugarloaf. Interment will follow in Calvary RC Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Dr, Drums, is assisting the family with arrangements.
