JoAnne (Nussbaum) Babula

JoAnne Babula, 72, of West Hazleton, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 21, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest in Allentown, following a sudden illness. 

 Born in Hazleton, November 2, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Doris (Encke) Nussbaum and had spent most of her life in West Hazleton. 

  JoAnne graduated from West Hazleton High School class of 1969.  She was employed at Fabri Kal Corporation, Valmont for over 20 years, having retired in 2014.  JoAnne had also worked for Evergreen Raceway in the ticket office.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, West Hazleton. JoAnn enjoyed sewing, making ceramics, shopping on QVC, watching her husband and son race at Evergreen, making sure her family & friends were always happy and comfortable, as well as spending time with the apple of her eye, her great-grandson Chase. 

 She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband Ronald L. Babula, Sr. who passed away September 26, 2022; a son, David Babula, sister, Wendy Bobrowski, and brother-in-law Michael Kowalczuk. 

 Surviving are two sons, Ronald L. Babula, Jr., Drums; and Richard Babula, Hazle Twp.; granddaughter, Sabrina Bogert and her husband Thomas, Hazle Twp.; great-grandson, Chase Bogert, Hazle Twp.; sister, Susan Kowalczuk, Hazle Twp.; longtime friend Janice Dalzell, West Hazleton. 

 Her funeral will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 10:30 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums.  Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, West Hazleton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, December 27, 2023, from 6 to 9 PM.
