Jeffrey A. Herring, 69, of Fern Glen, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Residential Hospice Inpatient Unit, Wilkes Barre, following a two-year illness.
Born in Hazleton, May 2, 1951, he was the son of the late Richard and Ethel (Hasker) Herring and spent the past 44 years in Fern Glen, after moving from Nuremberg.
Jeffrey was a Line Maintainer for Silgan Closures and retired in 2017 after 35 years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart RC Church, Weston and the church's Holy Name Society. He was a Sergeant in the National Guard and a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed learning about history and geography. He loved building and fixing things and his mind was always busy solving a problem.
He loved to travel and thanks to his son got to see may places around the world he always dreamed of exploring. However, most of all he enjoyed his may trips to California visiting Joe, to Virginia visiting Marianne, and to Florida visiting Mickey Mouse. Now his family sends him all their love on his last and greatest journey into the hands of God.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by two brothers Roger and Donald Herring.
Surviving are his wife the former Joanne Kushick, to whom he was married on August 7, 1976; a son Joseph, Livermore, CA; his mother-in-law Nancy Kushick, Fern Glen; a sister-in-law Kathleen Virnelson, Fern Glen; and a niece Marinanne Virnelson, Lynchburg, VA.
His funeral will be held Thursday August 20, 2020 at 10:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen, followed Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Sacred Heart RC Church, 554 Main Street, Weston. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday morning from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
