Jean (Matz) Hunsinger

Jean Hunsinger, 85, of Hazleton, passed away Friday evening, May 1, 2026, at The Manor at St. Luke Village in Hazleton, following a brief illness.

Born in Hazleton, February 16, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Jessie (Buchman) Matz.

Jean graduated from Freeland High School. She was employed as a stock person for Weis Markets, Hazle Township until her retirement. She adored spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to Dolly Parton albums, reading, watching General Hospital and the Young and the Restless, and gameshows like the Price Is Right.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, Donald Hunsinger, Sr.

Surviving are two children, Gail Calvello and Donald Hunsinger, Jr, both of Hazleton; six grandchildren, Nicole Calvello, Hazleton; Alicia Hunsigner, Tamaqua; Cieara Hunsinger, Harrisburg; Breeanna Hunsinger, Hazleton; Matthew Hunsinger, Hazleton; and Emily Hunsinger, Hazleton; five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Alayia, Lydia, Melody, and Kein; and cousin, Cecelia Dobash and husband Bruce, Conyngham.

Her funeral will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Dr, Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
