Jason "Jay" Martonick, 43, of Zion Grove, passed away unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, July 23, 2022 at his home.
Born in Hazleton, May 30, 1979, he was the son of Lucille (Carsia) Martonick, Port Saint Lucie, FL and the late Leonard Martonick. He spent the past 28 years in Zion Grove, after moving from St. Johns.
Jason was a 1997 graduate of Hazleton Area High School and a 2002 graduate of the Professional Golf Management Program at Penn State University, University Park. He was a member of the Philadelphia PGA section and enjoyed playing in section events. He was the Head Golf Coach for Penn State Hazleton, where he was voted PSUAC Coach of the Year on multiple occasions. He also had worked for many years as a Pharmacy Technician at Valley Pharmacy, Sugarloaf and most recently for the Lehigh Valley Health Alliance.
He was a member of the Valley Country Club, Sugarloaf. He enjoyed traveling to the best courses in the United States to catch up with his many friends in the business, he often referred to himself as "America's Guest". He was a fantastic artist, who enjoyed producing oil paintings and giving them to his friends and family.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his sister Corrine Wilson; his brother Steve Potochney; a nephew Jeremy Corra; and a niece Devin Wison, all of Drums; and several aunts, uncles, cousins; and many friends.
His funeral will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 8 pm from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Friends may call Saturday evening from 6 pm until the time of the service. Interment will take place privately in Calvary Cemetery, next to his father.
