Janice Zola, 77, of Sugarloaf, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning July 15, 2022 at her home.
Born in Hazleton, March 17, 1945, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Wizda) Poluka and spent the past 18 years in Sugarloaf, after moving from Hazleton.
Janice had worked as a Secretary for the business director of the Hazleton Area School District. She had also worked for Bell Labs in New Jersey. She was an avid baseball fan following the Yankees and Phillies. She enjoyed traveling to Long Beach Island, visiting casinos, and going out with her lunch and dinner girls. She also enjoyed listening to music, especially the Four Seasons, attending concerts, and playing piano. Her greatest joy, was spending time with her grandchildren. She was of the catholic faith and prayed the rosary every day.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by an infant son Jeffrey James Zola.
Surviving are her husband, of the past 56 years, James J. "Jim" Zola, Sr. to whom she was married on September 18, 1965; two sons James J. "Jamie" Zola, Jr, Hazleton; and Jeffrey John Zola and his wife Jennifer, Doylestown; three grandchildren Collin, Alina, and Amelia; two sisters Marie Bissell and her husband C. David Bissell, Bryn Mawr; and Marlene Kadany and Martin Gallagher, Drums; two brothers John Poluka, Lititz; and Atty. Joseph Poluka and his wife Jennifer, Narberth; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in Good Shepherd RC Church, 87 S. Hunter Hwy., Drums. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the church Tuesday morning from 10 am until the time of the Mass.
