Born in Hazleton on June 27, 1952, to the late Robert P. and Helen T. Smith, Janet was one of three children and grew up in West Hazleton. A proud Wildcat, she attended West Hazleton High School and graduated in 1970. After high school she took a job with PPL where she met her future husband Gary L. High. Janet was an active volunteer in her community and spent many years helping the Conyngham Valley Civic Organization (CVCO). Janet was a passionate cook and found great joy in volunteering at Conyngham's Valley Day, where she worked alongside friends and neighbors preparing many of the festival's beloved food items. She loved Penn State football and spent many a Saturday in State College rooting on the Nittany Lions. Most of all, she cherished time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Janet is predeceased by her husband Gary who passed away in 2019.
