James G. Van Horn, 73, formerly of Conyngham, passed away late Monday evening, June 13, 2022 at The Lutheran Home at Topton, due to complications following a lengthy battle with ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease.
Born in Hazleton, January 27, 1949, he was the son of the late Gordon and Delfine (Reisdorffer) Van Horn. Prior to moving to Topton, a few months ago, he had spent 38 years in Conyngham.
James spent 36 years primarily as a Project Manager for PPL. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a former member of St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a son Brian Van Horn, who passed away in 1989.
Surviving are his wife of the past 40 years, the former Kathryn Cherba; two daughters Jacqueline Fantasia and her husband Timothy, Trexlertown; and Jamie Barna, her husband Edward, and their children Ava and Ethan, Blue Bell; a son James Van Horn, his wife Caitlin, and a soon to be born daughter, Orefield; two brothers Robert Van Horn and his companion Betty Oswalt, Macungie; and Richard Van Horn and his wife Nancy, Nesquehoning; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Monday at 11:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Friends may call Monday morning from 10 am until the time of the service.
