James "Jim" M. Paulshock, 81, of Sugarloaf, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 29, 2023, at his residence following a brief illness.
Born in Hazle Brook, October 27, 1941, he was the son of the late George and Verna (Hannisick) Paulshock and spent the past 48 years in Sugarloaf, after moving from Hazleton.
Jim was a 1959 graduate of Hazle Twp. High School and graduated with a bachelor's degree from King's College, Wilkes-Barre. He was a US Air Force veteran from 1959-1964 with one tour of duty in Vietnam. Jim was employed as a Pennsylvania State Trooper with 25 years of service in Reading, Hamburg, Schuylkill Haven, and Hazleton. He was also the Driver License Supervisor from 1983-1991 covering the counties of Luzerne, Columbia, Carbon, and Monroe. Jim was a member of Saint John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Jeddo Stars A.A., and VFW Post #5010, Freeland. In 2006 Jim had a rare liver transplant at UPMC where he received a liver in a three-way transplant operation; at that time, it was only the second time it was ever done at UPMC. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching and discussing the Yankees, and dog sitting whenever needed. He was extremely generous, always willing to help anyone in need.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife, the former Monica Wydock, who passed away March 21, 2022; an infant sister, Elizabeth Paulshock; and a brother, George Paulshock.
Jim was a proud father and grandfather who leaves behind his two children, Bryan Paulshock and his wife Kathleen, Sugarloaf; and Kristen Kripp and her husband Joe, Mt. Top; three grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Connor and Gavin Paulshock, and Olivia Kripp; a brother, John Paulshock, Freeland; and many nieces and nephews.
