Irene Marie Snell, 88, of North Wales, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 29, 2023, at Jefferson Lansdale Hospital in Lansdale, following a brief illness.
Born in Hazleton, May 18, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Warnitsky) Hoppy and spent the past four years in North Wales, after moving from Drums where she had lived for more than 25 years.
Irene was a graduate of West Hazleton High School and before getting married, she enjoyed working at Victoria's Candies as a Retail Associate. Irene was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker and took great pride in caring for her home, child and family pets. She was a member of Ss Cyril and Methodius Parish, Hazleton. Irene liked to spend time gardening and working in her yard. She was very fond of Christmastime and always made her home beautiful for the holidays.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, Richard E. Snell who passed away April 25, 2019; a brother, Richard Hoppy; and a sister Loretta DeBalko.
Surviving are her daughter, Dr. Corinne M. Snell, North Wales; sister-in-law, Jane (Snell) Wylonis and husband Thomas, Harrisburg; two nieces and one nephew.
Her funeral will be held with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 10 AM in the Parish of Ss Cyril and Methodius, at the Church of St. Joseph, 604 N. Laurel Street, Hazleton. Interment will follow in Calvary RC Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 9 AM until the time of the Mass. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
