Irene C. Burger, 98, formerly of Drums, and a resident of Forest Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Weatherly, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton, following a brief illness.
Born in Putneyville, June 25, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Mary R. (Shadle) Raber and spent the past five years in Weatherly, after moving from Drums.
Irene was a Nurse's Aide for Sunny Knoll Personal Care Home, Sugarloaf. She was a member of Conyngham United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Butler Township Senior Citizens and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Irene enjoyed spending her free time doing embroidery, crocheting, fruit and vegetable gardening and canning.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, Herbert H. Burger, who passed away September 7, 1960; twin brothers, Stanley and Sterling; brothers, Harry, William, Clifford, Charles, Glenn, and Oscar; sisters, Creola Kesten, Ida Fisher, Thelma Slattery, Marian Nevel, Edna Burger, and Fern Ray; and a grandson, Eric Burger.
Surviving are two daughters, Rose Warrell, Summerville, SC; and Sharon DeFluri and her husband John, Lakeville; two sons, Robert Burger and his wife Joann, Drums; and Rodney Burger and his wife Paula, Drums; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a sister, Marcella Good, Weatherly; and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 2PM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Burial will follow in Conyngham Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 1PM until the time of the service.
