Helms F. Buchman, 71, of Drums, passed away Saturday morning May 21, 2022 at the Pavilion at St. Luke Village, Hazleton, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Hazleton, July 8, 1950, he was the son of the late Helms and Congetta (Yaccino) Buchman. Helms grew up in the Hazleton area, and was a 1968 graduate of Hazleton High School. He resided in Trevorton from 1979 until 2006 when he moved back to Drums.
Helms worked in the finance field at several institutions, the last being as Branch Manager of Luzerne Bank, Hazle Township Branch. He was a member of Good Shepherd RC Church, Drums. He had been a Little League and Teener League Coach for Treverton Athletic Association and his greatest enjoyment was being involved with and attending his children and grandchildren's numerous activities.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by two brothers Frank and Clyde Buchman; a sister Grace Hnasko; and his uncle and aunt, John and Margaret Yaccino.
Surviving are his wife of the past 50 years, the former Marie McNertney; a son Anthony Buchman and his wife Andria, Allentown; a daughter Connie Segedy and her husband Keith, Drums; four grandchildren Nicholas and Ava Buchman, Ainsley and Lachlan Segedy; three brothers John Buchman and his wife Rose, Hazle Township; Leonard Buchman and his wife Mary Lou, Hazle Township; and Thomas Buchman and his wife Jane, Spring Green, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Good Shepherd RC Church, 87 S. Hunter Highway, Drums. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday morning 9:30-10:30 am.
