George "Jeff" J. Jones

George "Jeff" Jones, 66, of West Hazleton, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025, at The Manor at St. Luke Village in Hazleton, following an almost two and a half year battle with Lewy body dementia.

Born in Hazleton, July 24, 1958, he was the son of Mary (Funanage) Jones, Mt. Top; and the late George "Russ" Jones and had spent most of his life in West Hazleton.

Jeff was a 1976 graduate of West Hazleton High School and graduated from King's College in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. He was employed as a mental health caseworker for Northeast Counseling Services, Hazleton. He was a member of the Catholic Faith. Jeff loved being outside in the summertime and watching the Los Angeles Rams and Penn State football games and would also occasionally root for the Dallas Cowboys if his wife was in attendance.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his father, by his stepdaughter, Brittany Schneck who passed away March 5, 2025.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his devoted wife, the former Stephanie Rumpf to whom he was married on May 11, 2018; three stepchildren, Thomas Schneck, Pine Grove; Chasity Schneck, Tremont; and Brandy Schneck-Ham and her wife Crystal, Columbia, SC; step grandchildren, Cody and Cole Schneck, and Layla and Bryson Zerbe; a cousin, Linda Funanish, Morrisville; his rottweiler, Gunner; and cat, Chloe.

His funeral will be held with a Memorial Service on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 10 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Dr., Drums. Interment will follow in Calvary Roman Catholic Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9 AM until the time of the service.
