George Joseph Pcolinsky

George Pcolinsky was born in Hazleton May 25, 1943, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Koslop) Pcolinsky. George passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025 (the same date as his mother passed away) after a three-year battle with cancer.

George was a United States Army Veteran stationed in Okinawa as a supply clerk, in charge of sending supplies to Vietnam. After returning home, he met Karen, married her and had two sons, Jonathan and Bradley. He was extremely handy, busy building and wiring his home. George taught his sons and grandchildren his trades; including how to garden, hunt and fish, and showed them how to fix almost anything. He enjoyed his big workshop and spent many hours working in it (he knew where every tool, nut and bolt were located in his shop). He also loved working outside around his property. George loved keeping busy and enjoyed life. 

George was a dedicated and loving family man who was most happy sharing a joke or a laugh with his family and friends. There was nothing that he couldn't fix, build, or troubleshoot.

When he wasn't working in the basement, he could be found cheering on Penn State football and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

George was an electrician for his entire career and had last worked at Bemis for 35 years and retired the day he was eligible. We could all learn a lesson from that.

George was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ Hazleton.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his brother, Michael Pcolinsky, John Horwath and his wife, Anita; and nephew, Joseph Ganc.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Karen (Hons) Pcolinsky; sons, Jonathan Pcolinsky and wife April, Shippensburg; and Bradley Pcolinsky and wife Leslie, Canastota, NY; his sisters, Anna Marie Ganc and her husband Dennis, Drums; and Mary Ann Piccola and her husband Carl, Hazleton; a sister-in-law, Rosemary Pcolinsky, Hazleton; his brothers, Joseph Pcolinsky and his wife Stephanie, Hazleton; and Thomas Pcolinsky and his wife Barbara, Hazleton; three grandchildren, Alexandra Stanton and her husband James, and Blake and Jacob Pcolinsky; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held with a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11 AM in Faith United Church of Christ, 21 Faith Drive, Hazleton, PA 18202 with Pastor Robert B. Peiffer, Ph. D officiating the service.  Interment will take place privately at the convenience of his family.  Friends may call at the church on Saturday morning from 10 AM until the time of the service.  Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
