George Michael Kokinda, Jr., 77, of Eagle Rock, passed away early Monday morning, February 9, 2026, at LVHN Cedar Crest in Allentown following a short illness.

Born in Elizabeth, NJ, April 28, 1948, he was the son of the late George M. and Helen (Mrazik) Kokinda, Sr. and spent the past 42 years in Eagle Rock.

George was a 1966 graduate of Hazle Township High School. He was a US Air Force veteran during the Vietnam War, having served from 1966 to 1970. After the service he was employed as a salesman for Budweiser, Hazleton. He switched careers to work as a High Voltage Electrician. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, working on antique farming equipment and fixing just about anything.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by two brothers, Steven and David Kokinda, a nephew, Joseph Fluegel Jr., and best buddy, Arnie Povisils.

Surviving are his loving wife, the former Maruta "Mooty" Povisils, to whom he was married on September 29, 1984; a son, George M. Kokinda, III., Hazle Twp; two brothers, Mark Kokinda and wife Pam, Harwood; and Richard Kokinda and wife Renee, White Haven; three sisters, Marie Chesko and husband Thomas, San Diego, CA; Carol Sabia, Drums; and Nance Fluegel and husband Jay, Plymouth; many nieces and nephews; and his best pal Finley.

His funeral will be held privately at the convenience of his family. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Rd, Rock Glen is assisting the family with the arrangements.
