George Cosgrove Obituary

George Morgan Cosgrove, 86, formerly of Butler Township, passed away Sunday evening, November 15, 2020 at Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas, following a lenghty illness.

Born in New York City, April 21, 1934, he was the son of the late George Cosgrove and Mary (Carroll) Zerrenner. Prior to residing at Meadows, George had lived in Butler Township for 22 years after moving from Yonkers, NY.

George was the retired Assistant Head of Security for Rockefeller Center, New York City, where he had worked for 31 years. He later managed security at the Salisbury Hotel, New York City; and after moving to Butler Township, he worked as a funeral attendant for Harman Funeral Homes during the 1990's. He was a member of St. John Bosco RC Church. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War, where he seved aboard the Destroyer Robert H McCard. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailors, and was an avid New York Yankees Fan. George will be remembered for his friendliness, quick stories, jokes and his never ending generosity. He loved meeting people and getting to know new friends, but most of all he loved his family.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, the former Carmela Guerriero, who passed away October 31, 2018; two sisters Alice Perez, Anna Barbara Cosgrove, and five brothers Richard, Joseph, Thomas, Morgan, and Hubert Cosgrove.

Surviving are his son Marc Cosgrove, his fiancee Kimberly Osborne, and thier son Micah, Greentown; and several nieces and nephews.
