George S. "Toots" Anthony Jr., 101, of Drums, passed away peacefully Monday morning, February 1, 2021, at home.
Born in Jeddo, August 20, 1919, he was the son of the late George and Lydia (Sherman) Anthony, Sr. and spent his entire life in Drums.
George worked as a Farmer after his military service and owned and operated Anthony's Trout Pond, Drums. He served as a Military Police sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and served stateside at several West Coast and Southern state bases. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. John's. Toots was an exceptional gardener, growing beautiful flowers and vegetables. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper who shared his knowledge with many others in his community.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife, the former Sophie Popovich; seven brothers, James, Daniel, Gerald, Charles and Ulysses Krieger and Russell and Roy Anthony, and two sisters Clara Hunsinger and Emma Snyder.
Surviving are his four children Delmar Anthony; Danube Anthony and his wife Lorraine; Damon Anthony and his husband Cicero Oca, all of Drums; and Daneille Pinto, Sugarloaf; three grandchildren, Amy and Allyson Anthony and Stephen Dansho, Jr., and some nieces and nephews also survive.
His funeral will be held with a graveside service in St. Johns Cemetery, St. Johns at the convenience of the family at a later date. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums is assisting the family.
