Gary Joseph Rodgers, Sr.

Gary Joseph Rodgers, Sr., 62, of Mountain Top, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 18, 2026, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, following a brief illness.

Born in Montclair, NJ, on July 6, 1963, he was the son of Patricia (LaBoda) Rodgers, Mt. Top and the late Edgar William Rodgers, Jr. and spent the past 7.5 years in Mountain Top, after moving from Hazleton.

Gary was a self-employed flooring contractor. In his free time, he enjoyed a round of golf, dart league, and bowling with his family in his younger years. He was an extreme Steelers fan, who would almost never miss a game-a licensed "couch coach," if you will. Gary also loved listening to music, dancing, and spending quality time with his family.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his loving and devoted wife, Tammy, to whom he was married on June 12, 1982 in Fleetville, PA; three children, Gary Rodgers, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Hazle Township; Kandis Morris and her husband Tyler, San Francisco, CA; and Steven VanWhy and his wife Brittany, Nanticoke; three and a half grandchildren, Cassidy, Cara, Savannah, and Baby Boy Morris on the way; three brothers, Richard Rodgers and his wife Julie, MO; Robert Rodgers and his wife Denise, AZ; and Daniel Rodgers and his wife Leslie, Pittston; two sisters, Donna Johnson, KY; and Tiffany Conti, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held privately at the convenience of his family. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Dr, Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
