Frank D. "Buddy" Ancharski, 87, of Drums, passed away early Friday morning, October 20, 2023, at Saint Luke's Manor in Hazleton, following a brief illness.
Born in Hazleton, March 12, 1936, he was the son of the late Joseph and Frances (Shambelan) Ancharski and spent the past 20 years in Drums, after moving from West Hazleton.
Buddy was a Printer for the Citizens Voice Newspaper, Wilkes-Barre until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Saint John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf and of the International Typographers Union Communication Workers of America. He was a huge Penn State and pro football fan. Buddy loved playing darts and cards, spending time with the whole family and selling 50/50s at the Ancharski Reunions.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife Barbara (Baradziej) Ancharski, who passed away June 26, 2007; 10 brothers, Phillip, Charles, John "Jackie", Richard, James, Joseph, Thomas, Paul, William, and Robert Ancharski, six sisters, Violet Oswald, Louise Stefankiewicz, Joan Ancharski, Helen Haber, Anna Hoinberg, and Leona Shergalis, and father and mother-in-law, Bernard "Bernie" and Theresa (Koziel) Baradziej.
Surviving are three children, Frank Ancharski and wife Judy, Mooresville, NC; Randy Ancharski and wife Amy, Burlington, NJ; and James Ancharski and wife Patti, Buckeye, AZ; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Eli, Tiffany, Caleb, Noah, Lauren, Randall, and Carolyn; two sisters, Peggy Breslin, Levittown; and Dolly Oscovitch, Eagle Rock; over 50 nieces and nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held with a Memorial Mass of Catholic Burial on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 10 AM in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 PA-93, Sugarloaf, followed by interment in Transfiguration Church Cemetery, West Hazleton. Friends may call on Friday evening, October 27, 2023, for a Memorial Visitation from 7 to 9 PM at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, and on Saturday morning in St. John Bosco Church from 9 AM until the time of the Mass.
