Frank A. Tarselli, Jr., 76, of Sugarloaf, passed away Tuesday morning, July 25, 2023, at Phoebe Allentown in Allentown following a lengthy illness.
Born in Hazleton on September 10, 1946, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Gortva) Tarselli, Sr. and spent the past 51 years in Sugarloaf after moving from Hazleton.
Frank was a Senior Reactor Operator for PPL, Berwick before retiring after 44 years. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Drums Lions Club, the Wyoming Valley Striders Running Club, the Penn State Alumni Association, and the Susquehanna Towers Club.
Frank was fond of all sports. He especially enjoyed watching his Penn State Football Nittany Lions and volunteering his time coaching Cross Country and Track for Hazleton Area High School. He was an avid runner, and loved spending time playing Kings in the Corner card game, assembling jigsaw puzzles, and watching birds from his sunporch.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his brother Anthony Tarselli, and his feline friend, Darth Vader.
Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Marie (Paul) Tarselli to whom he was married on October 28, 1967; daughters, Maria Johnson and husband Adrian, Kingston; Regina Tarselli and companion Keith Stancavage, Sugarloaf; and Yvette Tarselli; grandchildren, Luciano, Ariana, and Abriella Stranko; sisters, Ethel Barbossa, Montgomery, TX; Connie Mannick, Mountain Top; Donna Jean Grant and husband Lewis, Sugarloaf; Andrea Tarselli, Reading; two brothers Thomas Tarselli, Hazleton; Ronald Tarselli and wife Barbara, Ohio; sister-in-law Nola Tarselli; caring cousins, Erica Berta and Debbie Stiles; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; and a son-in-law, Michael Stranko, Sugarloaf.
His funeral will be held Monday, July 31, 2023, at 9:30 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 Rt. 93, Sugarloaf. Interment will follow in Calvary RC Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday evening, from 5 to 7 PM.
