Eugene M. Perek, 94, of Hazle Township, passed away early Friday morning, September 15, 2023, at Forest City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Forest City, following a brief illness.
Born in Dickson City, January 16, 1929, he was the son of the late Anthony and Sophie (Hoynowski) Perek and spent the past 18 years in Hazle Township after moving from Dickson City.
Eugene was a manager for Acme Markets, Edison, NJ for over 40 years. He was a Staff Sergeant of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Adalbert's Polish National Catholic Church, Dickson City and was a life member and previous Chaplin for the American Legion Post 665, Dickson City. He enjoyed bowling, was an avid sports fan and was particularly fond of the New York Yankees, Rangers, and Giants.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife, the former Cecilia Gombka who passed away April 24, 2002, a daughter, Deborah Perek, a brother, Joseph Perek, and three sisters, Genevieve Goralski, Lucille Perek, and Dorothy Perek.
Surviving are a son, Eugene C. Perek and his wife Jean, Archbald; a sister, Lorraine Halenda, Dickson City and some nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
