Elvan "Al" Harry Jones, 85, of Freeland, passed away March 3, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born in Hazleton, August 11, 1935, he was the son of the late Elvan and Anna (Horwath) Jones and spent the past six years in Freeland, after moving from Harrisburg.
Elvan was a Bus Driver for over 30 years at Capital Trailways, Harrisburg. He was a US Army veteran who served overseas from 1957 - 1959 and also served as a US Army Reservist for 14 years. He was a member of Saint Paul's United Methodist Church, Drums and was a past president and member of the International Transit Union. He enjoyed hunting, riding his motorcycle but most of all he loved his family. His wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a sister Patricia Jones.
Surviving are his loving wife, the former Elizabeth Rule to whom he was married on December 25, 1957; three children, Elvan "Butch" Jones and his wife Jeanette, Plains; Barbara Jacoby and her husband Randy, Sugarloaf; and Barry Jones, Sugarloaf; nine grandchildren, Elvan Robert Jones and his fiancée Rachel Sutton, Lattimer; Jeremiah Jones, Hazleton; Candy Lee Hearne and her husband James, Drums; Melissa Gregor and her husband Robert, Dallas; Michelle McDougal and her husband William, Plains; Marrisa Jacoby, Sugarloaf; Jonathan Jacoby, Sugarloaf; Justin Jones and his wife Denna, Sugarloaf; and Kristen Jones, West Chester; eleven great-grandchildren, Tyra, Mason, Gavin, Lucas, Ronan, Mia, Bobby, Anna, Matty, Ryan, and Carter; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held with a graveside service at 10 am in Drums Community Cemetery, 335 W Butler Dr, Drums. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums is assisting the family with the arrangements.
