Elizabeth H. Smith, 70, passed away May 2, 2024, surrounded by friends at her residence in Mountain Top.
Born in Danville on April 5, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Ellwood and Gladys (Reinhart) Geissler and spent the past 12 years in Mountain Top, after moving from Wynnfield Farms, St. Johns.
Betsy was a Teacher's Aide for Crestwood Area School District before retiring. She studied at the University of Vermont and Veterinary Technician Training at New Bolton Center. She was an accomplished equestrian whose love of horses followed her all her life. She taught riding lessons, competed in combined training and dressage competitions, loved to travel with her friends, creating pottery and was a member of the Nuangola Book Club. Golden Retrievers were always her loyal companions. Betsy enjoyed being the score keeper for the Crestwood School District field hockey team. She found joy with her husband, Paul, running Wynnfield farm that they shared up until his passing.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband Paul Smith who passedaway April 20, 2010.
Betsy was the last surviving member of her family. Surviving are many lifelong friends and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held privately at the convenience of friends at a later date. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory (East) 669 West Butler Drive, Drums, is assisting with the funeral arrangements.
