Eleanor Gundy Obituary

Eleanor M. Gundy, 96, of Sugarloaf, passed away early Friday morning, February 25, 2022 at The Laurels Senior Living in Hazleton, following a life well lived.

Born in Hazleton, December 31, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Navickas) Yeselski and resided most of her life there. Recently, she lived with her family in Sugarloaf where she enjoyed time with her great granddaughters and the countryside.

Eleanor was a woman of great style, grace, and incredible resiliency. Her faith and ethics proved to be unstoppable to much of life's adversity. She proudly worked for a number of years at Sargent Art Inc., Hazleton.  She attended Saints Peter and Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Hazleton as well as Good Shepherd RC Church, Drums.  Eleanor loved watching General Hospital, Steelers games and Penn State football.  She also enjoyed trips to the casino and socializing with friends at the Elks. Eleanor was deeply devoted to her family. She took great pride in making her moments count with them and by making each holiday magical.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband Frank J. Gundy, Jr. who passed away September 2, 2013. Their marriage was undoubtedly a true testament to their love and commitment to one another. They were the pillars of their family. She was also preceded in death by three brothers Joseph, George and Robert Yeselski.

Surviving are her son Frank J. Gundy, III. and wife Sharon; granddaughter Melissa Nenstiel and husband Daniel, two great-granddaughters who she loved so very much, Norah Lee and Charlotte, all of Sugarloaf; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held privately at the convenience of the family with a Mass of Christian Burial in Good Shepherd RC Church, followed by burial in Calvary RC Cemetery.  Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Dr., Drums, assisted the family with the arrangements.
