Edward Thomas Yurish, Sr., 93, of Drums, passed away Friday morning, July 25, 2025, following a brief illness at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community where he had been a resident for the past two years.
Born in Drums, August 27, 1931, he was the son of the late Stanley and Hilda (Hoffman) Yurish.
Edward graduated from Girard College, Philadelphia. He was a US Army veteran during the Korean conflict, having served from 1952 - 1954 and then retired from the US Army Reserves. He was extremely proud of his service to our country. Ed was employed as a machinist for Herman Schwabe, Valmont, having retired in 1988; and was also a member of their union. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and working on upholstery, a skill he learned in the military. Ed was a hardworking and devoted husband, father and provider. He never had anything bad to say about anyone and tried to find the good in everyone. He was loved by all who knew him, forever a charmer.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife of 67 years, the former Phyllis Balliet, who passed away November 28, 2019; a brother, Leemore Hoffman, and a sister, Hazel Petrick.
Surviving are four sons, Vernon Yurish, Milnesville; Edward Thomas Yurish, Jr. and wife Mary, Gerrardstown, WV; Russell Yurish and wife Linda, Sugarloaf; and Stanley Yurish, West Hazleton; five grandchildren, Stephen Lynch; and Nicholas, Megan, Brandi, and Levi Yurish; a great-granddaughter, Aubree Yurish, two great-grandsons, Leo and Henry Boettcher and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 10 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Dr., Drums. Burial will follow in Mt. Laurel Memorial Park, Hazle Twp. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 6 to 8 PM.
