Edward E. Lawrence, 96, of Sugarloaf Township, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 at The Corrigan House, Hazle Township, following a brief illness.
Born in Derringer, April 21, 1924, he was the son of the late John and Madge (McGlynn) Lawrence and spent the past 69 years in Sugarloaf Township after moving from West Hazleton.
Edward was a retired Laborer for the former Kawecki-Berylco. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII and was a founding member of the Valley Vets VFW Post #8161, Sugarloaf. During his retirement, he enjoyed farming, growing and selling local vegetables.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife the former Mary Gallagher, who passed away April 21, 2012; a son Eugene Lawrence, December 25, 2014; a son-in-law Mark Zane, May 29, 2017; a granddaughter Bree Monte-Snyder, September 20, 2019; a brother John Lawrence Jr.; and two sisters Thelma Siverstein and Joan Gaumer.
Surviving are his daughter Maureen Zane, Drums; a grandson-in-law, Scott Snyder, Mountaintop; two great-grandchildren Jorja Rose, and Iris Dayne Snyder; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 11 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday morning form 10-11 am.
