Dr. Dominic Anthony Lagana, Jr.

Dr. Dominic Anthony Lagana, Jr., 70, of Sugarloaf, passed away late Thursday evening, August 21, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton following a lengthy illness.

Born in Hazleton, November 15, 1954, he was the son of the late Dominic Anthony and Elizabeth "Molly" (Daleus) Lagana, Sr. and spent the past 31 years in Sugarloaf, after moving from Bloomsburg.

Dominic graduated from Hazleton High School, class of 1972. He then received his B.S. from Kings College in 1976, a master's from Marywood University, and completed his PhD in Professional Studies from the University of Southern California in 2003. Dominic was a School Psychologist for Luzerne Intermediate Unit and after retiring he was also employed at Northwest Area District. He was an active member of Saint John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf where he served as an usher. Dominic was an avid Penn State football fan, coached and refereed CVCO Basketball and coached for Valley West Baseball.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by an infant sister, Dolores Lagana; a brother, Joseph R. Lagana; a sister, Carol Leshko; brother-in-law, George Leshko; father-in-law, Roy T. Prosser and mother-in-law, Jean Prosser.

Surviving are his loving wife of 31 years, Sandra P. Lagana, to whom he was married on April 16, 1994 in Bloomsburg; a son, Aaron Dominic Lagana and his wife Hannah, Mechanicsburg; sister-in-law, Marilyn Lagana, Nescopeck; several nieces and nephews; and his dog, Benjamin Button, who loved the walks they had.

His funeral will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 9:30 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Dr, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf. Interment will follow in Most Precious Blood Cemetery, Hazleton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 PM.
