Dorothy T. Phile, 93, of Mt. Grove, passed away Thursday morning, May 19, 2022, at Sunset Ridge Healthcare and Rehab Center in Bloomsburg following a short illness.
Born in Hazleton, February 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Martha (Griffiths) Thomas and spent the past 61 years in Mt. Grove, after moving from Conyngham.
Dorothy graduated from West Hazleton High School in 1947. She married her loving husband Charles E. Phile on November 18, 1950, and their strong love lasted 69 years until his passing. She was a member of Black Creek United Methodist Church, Sugarloaf. She was a waitress at Sunny Knoll and Brior's restaurants during her working years. Dorothy enjoyed playing in two local Pinochle card clubs. She loved cooking, and especially adored showing friends and family how to make her famous Welsh cookies.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband Charles E. Phile; two brothers Robert Thomas and David Thomas, a sister Edith Roberts, and grandson Adam Gabriele.
Surviving are two daughters, Judith Schell and husband Gary, Mt. Grove; and Beth McCutcheon and husband Larry, Mt. Grove; two grandsons, Timothy Kapes and wife Shannon, McAdoo; and Nicholas Keyser, Mt. Grove; two great-grandsons, Deegan and Liam Kapes, McAdoo; two sisters, Kathleen Flaim and husband Carl, Conyngham; and Barbara Schneider-Sloane and husband Neil, King of Prussia; and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Monday, May 23, 2022, at 12 pm in Black Creek United Methodist Church, 158 Golf Course Rd., Sugarloaf. Burial will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, 1551 Rock Glen Road, Mt. Grove. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 11 am until the time of the service. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Rd, Rock Glen is assisting the family with the arrangements.
