Dorothy M. Croce, 94, formerly of Fern Glen and Conyngham, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 15, 2023, at The Laurels Senior Living Community in Hazleton, where she had resided for the past seven months.
Born in Hazleton, November 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John and Anne (Yesvitz) Skonieczny and spent the past 17 years in Conyngham, after moving from Fern Glen where she had lived from 1960 to 2006.
Dorothy was a sewing machine operator for Jebbon Manufacturing, Weston. She was a member of St. John Bosco R.C. Church, Sugarloaf; and Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Weston; and was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her loving husband, Albert F. Croce, who passed away September 9, 2019; four sisters, Clara Viechec, Joan McCay, Irene Palko, and Martha Kordalski, and a brother Walter Skonieczny.
Surviving are two daughters, Monica Weidick and her husband Richard, Sugarloaf; and Valerie Shoop and her husband Scott, Milton; four grandchildren, Ryan Weidick and his wife Kate, Kayla Higgins and her husband Scott, Kristin Rehm and her husband Travis, and Nicole Shoop; and was also expecting her first great grandchild in September.; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 10 AM in St John Bosco R.C. Church, 573 PA-93, Sugarloaf. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart RC Cemetery, Weston. Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 9 AM until the time of Mass.
