Donald Yocum Obituary

Donald C. Yocum, 98, formerly of Drums, passed away Sunday morning, June 21, 2026, at Southeastern Veterans' Center in Spring City.

Born in Shamokin, March 14, 1928, he was the son of the late Luther E. and Hazel J. (Grow) Yocum and spent the past four months in Spring City after moving from Lincoln Towers in Shamokin.

Donald was a World War II United States Navy Veteran, having served from 1945 to 1949. He also served on the Roselle Park First Aid Squad for many years. He was employed at Interstate Container for 33 years and then worked as a Maintenance Worker for Cranford County School District for nine years. He was a previous member of Faith Assembly of God Church, Hazle Township and an active member of the Christian Missionary Alliance in Cranford, NJ. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Garwood, NJ and the American Legion. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading Western novels, woodworking and creating numerous projects. Donald planted a vegetable garden every summer and took pride in helping his neighbor on his farm while residing in Drums.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife, the former Virginia A. Waldroff, three brothers, Luther, George and Brison Yocum, and a sister, Elnora Cawthern.

Surviving are his four daughters, Bonnie Lock and her husband Dale, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Darlene Fenick, Longs, SC; Suzanne Cimilluca, Edison, NJ; and Donna Bonner, Edison, NJ; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held with a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 11AM to 12PM from Harman Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums, followed by military honors. Interment will take place privately in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
