Donald Edward Snyder

Donald Edward Snyder, 91, of Weatherly, passed away, Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest in Allentown. 

 Born in Freeland, PA, June 19, 1932, he was the son of the late Albert and Irene (Goeppert) Snyder and spent most of his life in Freeland and Dover NJ.

 Donald graduated from Mining Mechanical Institute in 1950 and worked as a mining surveyor for Lehigh Valley Coal Co.. He then served as Army veteran of the Korean War from 1953 - 1955 in the 11th Airborne Division. After his service in the Army Donald trained as a tool and die maker for Picatinny Arsenal in Dover N.J. and had worked there for over 30 years. 

After retirement his interest turned to researching different methods of mining coal in the anthracite region over its long history, and also enjoyed planting his vegetable garden at his home in Freeland.

 He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his brother Albert Snyder. 

 Surviving are his sister Carol Cipperley, and her husband David; and a nephew Dale Cipperley all of San Jose CA.

 His funeral will be held with a graveside funeral service Friday October 20, 2023 at 11:00am in St. Johns Lutheran and UCC Cemetery, St Johns.  Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive is assisting with the arrangements.
