Donald C. Book

Donald C. Book, 82, of Sugarloaf Township, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 17, 2020 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes Barre, after contracting and suffering from Covid-19.

Born in Muncy, July 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Warren and Jessie (Kohler) Book.  Born and raised in Muncy PA, Don established his home in Sugarloaf for the past 50 years. 

Donald was retired from sales and management in the wholesale electrical industry.  He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mt. Grove, PA serving on Church Council and teaching the Adult Sunday School class for over 30 years. An engineering graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, he was a fan of PSU athletics, but was a particularly avid supporter and friend of the wrestling team.  He served the community in several capacities including on the Hazleton Area School Board and in recent years through the Masons.  He was a lifelong hunter, sports enthusiast, gentleman farmer, patriot, and regular patron of Sally’s in Sugarloaf and Joe’s Dinner in Hazleton.  His family and friends were blessed to know him.  He lived life boldly and ran the race in faith. By grace he is now Home with his Lord. 

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his first wife, the former Dorothy Moeller, who passed away, November 12, 2006.

Surviving are his second wife, the former Bonnie (Faus-Reece) to whom he was married on June 3rd, 2017; three sons; Brent Book and his wife Ramona, Bellefonte; Lance Book and his wife Lisa, Sugarloaf; and Garth Book, Sugarloaf; a daughter Amy Minzola and her husband Connie, Jeanesville; nine grandchildren: Chandley Schuck and her husband Joel, Natalie, Bethany, Erika, Lance, Cassandra, and Graydon Book, Matthew and Alison Minzola; a sister Barbara Mahon(Cheunes), Unityville; nephew Jimmy and niece Brianna.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, his funeral will be held privately at the convenience of the family from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West) 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen.  Burial will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery.
