Dolores S. Carmadella-Baum, 82, of Oneida, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 23, 2026, at her residence with family at her side.
Born in Hazleton, July 3, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Suzanna (Kowalick) Carmadella. After moving from Hazleton, she spent the past 65 years in Oneida.
Dolores was a 1961 graduate of St. Gabriel's High School. She was employed by the United States Postal Service for 31 years, completing her career of service as a Postmaster, at both Nuremberg and Weston Post Offices before retiring in 2006. She was a member of St. Joseph's RC Church, Sheppton. Dolores was a faithful Catholic whose love of the Holy Trinity was reflected in her daily prayers, her kindness to others, and her devotion to family.
Dolores had a remarkable ability to bring people together. She cherished planning family reunions, creating lasting memories for generations of relatives. She took great pride in her Slovak and Italian heritage, especially in preparing and serving the traditional Slovak Holy Supper and Easter Pie. Whether organizing a family gathering, hosting a holiday meal, or playing a competitive game of cards or Taboo, she fostered connections and shared moments that will be treasured by all who knew her. Dolores was a loving and generous friend to countless people and an advocate for her community, committed to serving her church and the places where she lived and worked. She spent countless hours organizing and working at events and fundraisers.
Over the past 20 years, she traveled extensively and shared many adventures with her cousin and housemate, Mary Ann Wezner. Most meaningful to Dolores was the time she spent with family in the Rochester area, at Long Beach Island, New Jersey, and during winter stays in Destin, Florida.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, Clifford H. Baum, who passed away December 5, 2005.
Surviving are her two children, Joya Jett, Rochester, NY; and William Dennis Brown, III, Hazleton; three grandchildren, Maria Brooks, Canandaigua, NY; Sam Jett, Rochester, NY; and Anna E. Jett, Farmington, NY; three beloved great-grandchildren, Georgia and Violet Brooks and Ian Jett; a brother, Joseph Carmadella and his wife Tish, Midlothian, VA; a sister, Bernadine Carmadella, Hazleton; chosen family members Michael Baum, his wife Shelley, their son Nathen and his wife Sarah, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 11 AM in St. Joseph's RC Church 14 E. Oak Street, Sheppton, PA 18248. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Rd, Rock Glen is assisting the family with the arrangements.
