Dolores M. (Andrews) Andrews

Dolores M. Andrews, RN, a life-long resident of the village of Sheppton, PA, passed away April 26, 2021 during her stay at the Schuylkill Center in Pottsville, PA.

Preceding her in death were her parents George and Mary (Romanick) Andrews, sister Gloria J. Horvath, and longtime companion Joseph Zapach of Hazleton, PA.

Her surviving family members are sister Elizabeth A. Kakalecik, RN; brother George and wife Andrea Andrews, RN; all of Sheppton, and including members of the Andrews and Romanick families, along with nieces and nephews.

Ms. Andrews graduated with honors from the former Sheppton High School, followed by the Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing, ranking second in her class of 91 as an academic rewards recipient.

Later in life she graduated from Hahnemann Hospital Cancer Screening Program as a sponsored candidate of noted Hazleton surgeon Victor F. Greco, MD.  Her class here was second in a class of 47.

Her professional career spanned 48 years as a private duty provider at local hospitals, an industrial nurse at General Foam Corporation working under the partnership of the late Stanley Yamulla, MD, and lastly as a Public Health Nurse for the Department of Health for the Commonwealth of PA.

Dolores was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Sheppton, PA her entire life.

No services are planned at this time at the request of the deceased due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are no requests made by the family other than a silent prayer, with a special thank you to Father James Demko for his gift of hope to Dolores at her time of need.
