David M. Yurkanin

David M. Yurkanin, 80, passed away unexpectedly on July 18, 2025, at his home in Drums, PA.

Born in Hazleton on December 18, 1944, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Bartkovich) Yurkanin and spent the past five and a half years in Drums, after living in Venice, Fl for seven and a half years. He also lived for ten and a half years in Eagle Rock before moving to Venice, FL.

David was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and served from 1963 to 1967, and was a Security manager for Tobyhanna Army Depot, Tobyhanna, before retiring in 2003. He also worked in Heidelberg, Germany at the Patton Barracks for three years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by brothers, Thomas, Paul, Michael, Emil, and Joseph Yurkanin; and sisters, Leona Bayer, Elizabeth "Elsie" Yurkanin, Catherine McLaughlin, and Anne Yurkanin.

Surviving is his wife, Andrea (Rapach) Yurkanin. Also surviving are son, Eric Yurkanin and husband Dozinn Alaga, Atlanta, GA; two daughters, Georgann Saville and husband Greg, TX; and Jennifer Hensley, Drums; step-son, Greg Janeczek, Glennville, GA; two step-daughters, Christine Janeczek Landers and husband John, Texas & Virgina; and Audra Janeczek, Gouldsboro; four grandchildren, Gwendolyn and Romeo Saville, and Grace and Jacob Hensley; two step grandchildren, Vera and Valerie Landers; two brothers, John and wife Catherine Yurkanin, Drums; and Stephen Yurkanin and wife Debbie, Hazleton & Florida; and a sister, Mary DeJohn and husband Robert, Freeland.

A private burial will take place, with no public service. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Dr., Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
