Clyde A. Zehner Jr., 95, of Sugarloaf, passed away early Thursday morning, June 4, 2020, at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Danville, following a brief illness.
Born in Sugarloaf, January 2, 1925, he was the son of the late Clyde and Harriet (Turnbaugh) Zehner, Sr. After marriage, he and his family lived in Harrisburg, Mansfield, Tunkhannock, Towanda and Berwick. When he retired, he returned to the family farm and spent the past 30 years in Sugarloaf.
Clyde was a farmer at John J. Zehner and Son Farm for many years, an auto body mechanic, an insurance agent and later a District Sales Manager at several Nationwide Insurance Company branches in NEPA. He was a loyal and loving husband, father, grandfather and devoted follower of Christ. Clyde enjoyed spending time with his family, serving the needs of people he met through work and church, and mowing the many acres of lawn around his farmhouse.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife of 72 years, the former Betty Yost who passed away November 28, 2019; and his brother, William J. Zehner.
Surviving are his daughter Carol Sostok and her husband Michael, Cincinnati, OH; two granddaughters Anne and Megan Sostok; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place at Berwick Bible Church and officiated by Pastor Brad Iverson on Monday, June 8, 2020. Viewing will begin at 10:00AM with the service starting at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Black Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery, Sugarloaf. Anyone attending Clyde’s services must wear a face covering due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
