Charles Villano Obituary

Charles I. Villano, 94, of Drums, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Allied Services Hospice Center in Wilkes-Barre following a brief illness.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, January 20, 1930, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Augustina (Costa) Villano and spent the past 34 years in Drums, after moving from Babylon, Long Island, New York.

Charles was an X-Ray Technician for 40 years in New York. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He was an active member of Good Shepherd RC Church, Drums. Charles played racquetball and bocci with his buddies until he was 85 years old.  He enjoyed traveling to Italy and Aruba with his family.  He was a loyal Notre Dame football fan and always had a story and a joke to tell which made you smile.  Charles always enjoyed sharing a meal with family and friends.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife Mary Elizabeth (DeSimone) Villano who passed away September 19, 2020; two brothers, Phillip and Thomas Villano and two sisters, Grace Narcisco and Dorothy Ferrugio. 

Surviving are two children, Margaret Pienkowski and her husband Gary, Drums; and Dr. Michael A. Villano and his wife Susanna Kim-Villano, Granger, IN; seven grandchildren, Jason Pienkowski and his wife Melissa, Fort Collins, CO; Ryan Pienkowski and his wife Lesley, Freeland; Tina Marie Mushinske and her husband Joram, East Hanover, NJ; Marisa Simon and her husband Erik, South Bend, IN; Michael Y. Villano and his wife Elizabeth Leatherberry, Indianapolis, IN; Anthony Villano and his wife Hind Ourahou, Abu Dhabi; and Peter "Rocky" Villano, Granger, IN; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 10AM in Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 87 S. Hunter Highway, Drums.  Burial will follow in Calvary RC Cemetery, Drums.  Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 9AM until the time of the Mass.  Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
